In answer to your
letter of Oct. 24, informing me of
an appointment to a mission to
the Southern States, I will say
that my circumstances are such that
I cannot see any means of leaving my
present situation. I am under contract
to teach the district school for this
season; also have a small farm leased,
either of which cannot be given up
without considerable loss to both parties.
I, therefore, ask to be excused hoping
that future calls may find me in
better circumstances
Dear Brother:
In answer to your
letter of Oct. 24 informing me of
an appointment to a mission to
the Southern States, I will say
that my circumstances are such that
I cannot see any means of leaving my
present situation. I am under contract
to teach the district school for this

either of which cannot be given up
without considerable loss to both parties.
I, therefore, ask to be excused hoping
that future calls may find me in
better circumstances
