all business appertaining to the settlement
during the winter. we had a council
with col Cane some important things
were said A resolution formed to address fcertain resolutions to the Hon president Polk
with expressions of gratitude for his kindness
to the Latter day saints in arming 500 of
them & planting them in Calafornia And
paying them as soldiers & offering other
privileges spoke against Gov Boggs being
Governor of California & Oregon As his
friends were trying to make him. President Young informed Col Cane that our intention
was to settle in the great Bason or Bear valley
A territorial Goverment will be petitioned for
as soon as we get settelled there And some other
business Attended to we rode out in the even-
ing And pitched upon a location in A valley
the east side of the timber we met in
council in the evening

8th Spent part of the day in council in
the evening I was baptized for the remission
of my sins under the Hands of Elder W. Richards I also baptised him And Mrs Phebe W. Woodruff twice once for the
remission of sins & once for sickness & she
seemed much better After baptism. I also
baptised Caroline, Sarah, Mary, And rosetta King
