This is to Certify that I wilford
Woodruff being in Company with
president Brigham Young at his office
on the 29 day of Sept 1857 and
while present with him John D. Lee
arived and made a report to him of the Mountain ^Meadow^ Massacree He did not
at the time implicate himself or any white
Men but said it was Done by the
Indians. Pressdent Young expressed much
Regret that such a thing ^Deed^ should have
been performd in this Territory
esspecially that any innocent Blood
should have been shed in this territory
Lee Remarked there was not a drop
of innocent Blood in that Camp president
^Young^ Remarked what do you call the Blood
of women & children if it is not
Innocent Blood Lee Did not Reply
