January 28, 1840 ~ Tuesday

28th I applyed for a license but the justice
had not power to grant me one [FIGURE] that
he knew of. I preached in Birmingham ^Birslem^ at
night to a crouded congregation &
Methedist preacher by the name of John
Jones
arose when I closed & read a pam-
phelet containing an extract of morm
onism unveiled]] & Warren Parrish
letters signed Luke Johnston & John F.
Boyanton
I answered him when he got
through & he rejected our testimony as he
had done a number before I had a
interview with priest Samuel Heath he
spent the night with me at Elder Cordons
