Discourse 1856-11-23
W. Woodruff. said. It is about time to draw our meeting to a
close, and before closing I would like to say a very few words:
Our attention has been drawn through the day to the travels of
the missionaries, which is all very well, but before closing I
wish to say to the people, I do not wish you to lose sight of the
duties of saints; I want to have the Latter Day Saints keep
in view the work in which they are engaged at home, and
not forget it. We are engaged in what is termed a reformation
here in Great Salt Lake City. There are missionaries sent
out through this City, who are sent out by the authorities to
labor among the people, and do them good.
I just wish to say to the brethren that I want to have you
be faithful, and look to the counsel we have received, and carry
it out. I want to have the Bishops and missionaries, when
they meet, unite themselves together in the spirit of the Lord. We do
not wish to hear of any difference between the Bishops and missionaries.
