Discourse 1880-02-28
Apostle W. Woodruff said he was glad to see the improvement made here among the Saints. We should meet together and dedicate our fields. The Latter-day Saints should keep the word of wisdom. The day will come when no man will be permitted to administer the sacrament or officiate in the ordinances of the Church who does not keep the word of wisdom. No man is fit to administer the sacrament, lay hands on the sick, or officiate in temples with tobacco in his mouth or whisky in his system, and it should not be permitted, it is not acceptable to God. Spoke of the advantages of living together like the people of the settlements on the Little Colorado, in being able to gaurd against many of the evils the saints are surrounded with, and encouraged the saints throughout this territory to unite together. We should avoid going into debt and should be prompt in paying those we hire thier wages. There is a great field for labor among the house of Israel.
