Sept 11, 1887
A hand pointing to the right I wrote 8 Letters to Bleak, Farnsworth, Thompson
Jesse, Sylvia, Emma, Clara & Blanch. I had an interview
with J McAllister & Elias Smith untill 10 oclok A Telegram
was sent from the South notifying the Marshals that McAllister
was in S. L. City in disquise and wanted him arested for
he was living with two of his wives

Salt Lake City, Utah, President Woodruff: Dear Brother, Having been some-what surprised on receiving a notice to prepare to go upon a mission. I can say I feel thankful that I am worthy to receive the same, and with the help of the Lord I will try to fulfill the glorious calling as far as the Lord will give me strength. Having been more or less, of late, engaged in educational studies and having a strong desire to fulfill any calling required of me from the hands of the Lord and hoping to prove worthy of this hopingly calling Therefor I heartily respond to this high and holy calling as
