Prest Wilford Woodruff Dear Bro Your favor of 17th inst about the Temple report Fuel account &c Recd, will say the Fuel a/c looks High as there was no coal reported on Hand, and amt on Hand could onely be reported aproxamately in Nov & Dec I bought and paid for coal to last a part of the winter, and at the Time I made the report Dec 31 I had on Hand some $30000 or more in coal, which I had laid in for winter use for fear of a Blockade or scarcity of coal, and that amt was in last report we are now & have been for some days useing about 1 1/2 tons pr day and the coal cost us here $750 & some $8.00 pr ton when the weather is moderate we use from 12 to 20 hundred pr day. hopeing this ^explenation^ will be satisfactory I am your Bro & co laborer M. W. Merrill

Salt Lake City U. T. Brother & Sister Cottam I received your Letter of the 11 and read it with much pleasure I Highly appreciate the many kindnesses you have shown me in days that are past I trust that we may Live to Meet again in the flesh I am Enjoying quite good health at present. My family are better. Julia is much better and Clara is up & Down better & worse Emma & the Rest of the family are well and wish to be Remembered to you all We have had vary cold weather here Thermometer her 16 Below zero at Ogden 24, Logan 30, Bear Lake 45. I am Glad you and Grand Ma are as Well as you are I hope you may Live many years to come We feel a good Deal
