April 28, 1889 ~ Sunday

Sunday April 28, 1889
Brother Geo Q Cannon called for me this morning &
we drove to the U C Depot and took train for Ogden.
thence to Brigham City to attend Conference. We
reached Brigham City a little after 11 o'clock and were
met at the platform by Brother Lorenzo Snow, and all
the leading men of the place. The Brass Band was
also out, which greeted the train with music as it drew
up to the platform. There were probably 2000 people
drawn up, the men and boys on one side and the women
and girls on the other, making two files of people extending

Pres. Woodruff, expressed his joy, and thankfulness for the blessings now enjoyed. it is about five years since I last visited you. your kind reception this day causes me much reflection. he disrd [desired] to do all he could to carry on this great work. alluded to the view of Adam, given of God of all things to the latest generation &c. dwelt at some lenght on the persecutions of the saints in the dips- pensations past as well as of the present one. the opposition that the introduction of the Gosple has provoked, the labors and sacrifices, gmade by the Elders for the salvation of this generation. all ex^ce^pt the sons of perdition will be saved in a kingdom of Glory, but if this nation reject this Gosple, the word of God will be fullfilled on them. I am grateful for your kind reception tendered, God bless you and those who preside over you. singing by the choir.
