September 10, 1890 ~ Wednesday

Sept 10th 1890
I wrote 2 letters to Emma and all the children
we rode 18 miles with Mr Seemore Proprietor of
the Ross House He traveled through many parts of the
City, through the Golden Gate and Park in the
Evening we attended the Chineese Theater and their Underground Habitations we retired at 12 oclok 20 mils

Letter from Lot Smith, 10 September 1890
President W. Woodruff, Dear Bro. I got home all O. K. I thought I had better tell you I wanted to see you againe but you were gone when I passed the City. Some one may want to make some kind of a complaint the Navajoes told the folks that the officers had told them the Navajoes that they were after me & that I must keep out of the way they went to all of the houses & warned the folks but said the folks must not tell the Americans. Young Foutz an Apostate done all he could to find me Said me and his father Should be hanged to one tree. His father told him to read? a writ to him and he would never Read another. He is mean as hell. It is said he is away now hunt- ing me. I think I will not be gone long before they will take all I have they have they have started now & are putting the Indians up to do the same. Now if the Indians tell the truth. A. L. Farnsworth said they would have me if they had to burn me out & in 10 minutes the barn started. Put the 2 together & give the Indians a little Whiskey & you have a fire. I have not found out whoo furnished the Whiskey but the folks say they the Indians had it. May the Lord Bless & protect those whoo want to do right. Your Bro. Lot Smith
