Letter from William Orme Lee, 3 November 1890

Upolu, Samoa, . To the First Presidency Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Dear Brethren: Just a few words to tell you, if possible, how joyful our hearts are after reading your favor of Oct. 15th which arrived here this afternoon. We will gladly welcome our brethern and there is any amount of good for them to do. We would still like to have two more Elders if you can spare them, and if possible one of them to be a former Sandwich island missionary to accompany Brother Brigham Smoot to Toga. Their united experience would be inestimable, but if that is impracticable, we will make the best of what we have, and I firmly believe all will be well with the Toga or Society islands mission. Five Samoans left here this morning on a visit to Toga. They attended our meetings yesterday and I gave them each one of Bro D's tracts to take with them, as there are quite a number of Samoans on the island of Toga who will read with pleasure that excellent little book.
