Nov 4. This is the Election Day and we trust a victory
for the People John T Caine got 5000 Majority over
Godwin. The Democrats gained quite a victory over the republicans
I signed 17 Recommend I received 15 Letter

President Woodruff Dear Brother It is with feelings of Grattitude to my Heaven- ly Father that I cheerfully respond to the call to take a mission to Gt. Britain my Native land which is in fullfillment of a promise of a servent of god pronounced upon my Head Nearly 24 years ago & shall endeavour to Be ready on the Date mentioned In your Respected favor of Oct 28th 1890 Namely Nov 26th Enclosed please find envelope & stamp for answer to the 2 following ^questions^ if you or some one would Be so kind to asnswer The approximate ammount of money needed to take me to my field of labour The hour at which you wish me to present my self at the Historian Office to Be set apart to my mission & any other Instr- uctions that you might Deem would be of service to me Your Brother In the Gospel Walter. Utah Dear Brother: Your name has been suggested and accepted as a Missionary to Great Britain The work of the Lord is progressing in the nations, and faithful, energetic Elders are needed in the ministry to promulgate the everlasting Gospel, openings for doing good appearing in numerous directions. Yourself, with others, having been selected for this mission, should there be no reasonable obstacles to hinder you from going, we would be pleased to have you make your arrangements to start from this City at as early a date as November 26th 1890. Please let us know, at your earliest convenience, what your feelings are with regard to this call. If you accept it you will receive no further notification, but will be expected to present yourself at the Historian's Office to be set apart on the day previous to that appointed for your departure. San Francisco, W. Woodruff Esq Dr Sir The potatoes arrived safely. I am very fond of a good one. You could not have selected a sample of any pro- duction on which would have suited me better.
