Letter from Olof Rosenlof, 23 September 1891
President W. Woodruff Salt Lake City Dear Brother: Your cuommunication of recent date enquiring if were prepared to go on a foreign mission is to hand. In reply thereto I beg to say The call as it was entirely un- expected found me entirely unprepared. About 2 years ago I joined in partnership with another man in buying a herd of Sheep, and in order to do so I mortgaged all my real Estate except my home and am paying heavy interest on the money. I have done very well with the Sheep so far
Letter from James Edward Talmage, 23 September 1891
President Wifordlford Woodruff and Counselors; Dear Brethren: For two years the Theological class of our higher department has been favored with the services of Elder George Reynolds as instructor in Book of Mormon subjects. The interest displayed by the students in Elder Reynolds' teachings, and the good results of his efforts, have been strongly manifest. During the few weeks of the present academic year already elapsed, enquiries have been numerous as to the possibility of his resuming his valuable instructions. In a conversation between myself and Brother Reynolds, he stated his willingness to continue his assistance to our Theological work, if such met the approval of the Presidency. I therefore take the liberty to respectfully ask your consideration of the matter, and should you deem it advisable to give to Elder Reynolds the time necessary for conducting a class once or twice a week, one of the most important branches of our Theological work will be greatly strengthened. Trusting you will pardon my trespass on your time and attention by consid- ering the object of it, I am, Very respectfully your Brother, J. E. Talmage.
