Prest. W. Woodruff and Members of the General Board of Education: Dear Brethren: At a meeting of the Salt Lake Stake Board of Education held Jany. 9th. your letter of Jany. 4th. wherein you suggest changing Central Seminary to an academy and request that Dr. J. E. Talmage be released from the position of Principal of the L.D.S. College was considered. After considering the matter, on motion, it was resolved that in conformity with the request of the General Board, Dr. Talmage be released from the position of Principal and also his Normal, Theological and Executive duties, provided he continue his scientific lectures to the Students until the end of the School year. His release to take effect Jany. 11th.
