Letter from Alfred Anderson Kofoed, 14 August 1893
Weston President Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother
Letter from George Emmett Browning Sr., 14 August 1893
To the First Presidiency of the Church, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brethren: Your valued favor of July 18th., with the draft enclosed for $20000 came duly to hand the 5th. inst. for which please accept our thanks. Elders Carpenter and Summerhays will leave here for America on the 16th inst., and as all the preceeding elders that have returned have been allowed $12500 each to pay for their return fare and purchase clothes with, Bros. Carpenter and Summerhays were expecting the same amount and had made arrangements to that end, so I have taken the liberty of allowing them $12500 each which I trust will meet with your approval, if you consider $10000 each is sufficient to allow the returning elders kindly let me know. (?) If it is agreeable to you I will be pleased if you will kindly send by return mail, money for the return fares of elders Chas. W. Poole, Alma L. Green, and James Ricks that they may be released to return home on the steamer that will leave here for America on or about October 12th. 1893. They have been earnest workers in assisting to preach the principles of the Gospel unto the people dwelling upon these islands, and have filled honor- able missions. As far as myself is concerned I leave it entirely with you, if you consider that I have filled an honorable mission, and that it is the will of the Lord
