Letter from Carl Christian Anton Christensen, 6 December 1893
Ephraim, Utah, President W. Woodruff. Dear Brother! By consent of Bishop Dorius of Ephraim, I take liberty, respectfully to place before you a sketch-design for a decoration, which I propose to paint on the mall behind the stand for the priesthood, provided it meets your approval and you will allow me credit to the amount of about $5000 on my tithing for this year. I do not mean to draw any portion of that amount from the tithing-store- house, but let it be applied to my credit, as I am very desireous to pay tithing, yet have much difficulty in making my income and expences balance.
