Letter from Abraham Owen Woodruff, 20 June 1894
Dearest Father and Mother: Your kind letters of the 4th and 3rd respectivly were received this morning and contents devowered. It always creates joy in my heart to again hear that you are enjoying one of the greatest blessing to men: "health." Many thanks for your favors and to Ma for di^a^gram sent. This is about the first sunny morning we have had in the month of June. I believe if has rained every day without one exception and our weather has been fully as cold as April. It is fine weather for Beets and garden stuff but bad for fruit as fruit does not ripen well in stormy weather and is much more sour than if we had good weather. My dear aunts although I have quit reading which will neccessitate a little back set in my learning the language, still I am getting on quite well with my language and feel ever that I am blessed. Although the Devil gets into some of our people some times and it is hard to keep all in order, still our good work ins slowly progressing. Last Sunday evening; once more I had the pleasure of going down into the waters of the grand old "Main" and take another soul through the waters of Baptism. My subject this time was a young Holsteiner about my age his name is Clauson. I have hardly ever felt such a spirit as exhisted at the watters edge. After the sun had left us here and gone to throw her glorious light onto the dear land in the west; as darkness stole over the land as small
