Letter from Joshua Reuben Clark, 22 June 1894

Grantsville, Utah . President Woodruff, Dear Brother, Yours of the 8th inst to hand. Should have replied sooner but was absent when the letter came. I accept the call, and sincerely hope and pray that I may be able with the assistance of the Spirit of the Lord and the faith and prayers of the Saints to do some good, and prove my- self worthy of the labor that you and the brethren have called upon me to perform. The bishop is absent and will be I understand for some time. but when he returns I will get a recommend and forward to you

Letter from David Fisk Stout, 22 June 1894

President W. Woodruff Box B. Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Brother: I enclose you a letter from Elder Hyrum Brimhall perhaps not entirely self ex- flametory. In a former letter to his Prest of Conference Elder Truman H. Barlow he had said he would probably be forced to return home for want of means In my letter he speaks of I had sta- ted that I would write to his Bishop and Quorum Pres't for means to enable him to complete his mission rather than have him return home ^without^ doing more. I have written yesterday to both stating the circmstances and en- deavored to show them how we look for efficient laborers in the vineyard that the first year of an inexperi- enced Elder seldom produces such fruit and that has years is little enough time

Letter from Abraham Owen Woodruff, 22 June 1894

Dearest Pa and Ma: Reports have reached me that Blanche does not treat John quite w right so I have written her a little word of advise you can first read it and if you think it proper give it to her. Am well and my eyes are improving for which I assure you I am thankful. Sitill have my Companion with me who is a relative of Bro. Naegle, Bro. Bryner is his name but between you and me I would have rather had some one else as he is not educated and has some queer ways. He has been here about one year and I am almost as far along in the language as he is; so he can't assist me much but he is a better man than I am most likely
