Letter from Benjamin Cluff Jr. to the First Presidency, 13 February 1895

President Wilford Woodruff George Q. Cannon, and Jos. F Smith. Dear Brethren: Being desirous of making a collection of Theological and other books for the Library of the B. Y. Academy, I came to Salt Lake City in hopes of obtaining some contributions, and find on investigation that in the "up stairs" of the Clerk's office are some works that would be very useful to us, should you feel disposed to let us have them, or any of them. I take the liberty of appending a list: Journal of Discourse, Vol I. Millennial Star, Vol XIII. Mediation and Atonement by John Taylor, 3 copies Speeches in Congress, Hon Geo. Q Cannon, 6 copies Book of Mormon—Deseret Alphabet, 1 copy. Everetts Orations 2 Vol. Our Lost Explorers, Jeannette. Sketches of History, Butler.

Letter from George Teasdale, Alexander Findlay Macdonald, and Henry Eyring, 13 February 1895

Pres't Wilford Woodruff and Counselors Dear Brethren, We refer you to our letter of Dec 12 last, regarding the calling of Bro H. S. Harris of Richfield to come to Mexico, learn the language and qualify himself as a lawyer. We said in that letter: "If you consider that Bro Harris is the right kind of a man, we certainly should be glad and grateful to you to have him called to that position and mission." We are still of the same opinion and see the urgent necessity of some of our people becoming qualified to give us legal aid. We learn from Bro D. E Harris a brother of H S Harris that the latter has been asked by his quorum, whether he could be on hand to take a foreign mission.
