16 ^ A folded letter/box^ I received a Letter from Owen to Mother with a
pair of Gloves I spent the forenoon with Legrand
Young
on the Utah Company Business. I met
with Brother Hilton & several others from Samoa
Islands
2 sisters came over & left there Husbands
there they speak well of the Mission there

Letter from Alven Ipsen, 16 April 1895
Bear River City, . To the First Presidency of the Church, Salt Lake City, Dear Brethern; Some time ago I received a call to take a mission to the Southern States, and accepted. The time for my departure was set for June. I have been informed that there is a company going to go May 15. If you have no objections I would be pleased to start the same time (May 15,) If it makes no difference I would like to go then wether there is any more are ^going^ not. PROVO ^Payson^ City, . Pres. Wilford Woodruff, Salt Lake City. Dear Brother: Your letter of March 15 notifying me of my ap- pointment to the California mission came duly to hand. I deferred replying at once with the intention of making a personal call during the conference season. This makes my present response later than it otherwise would have been. Do not think that this delay indicates any doubt or hesitancy on my part, for such is not the case. I consider myself honored in receiving this call and will prepare to leave on the date designated.
