Letter from Joseph Warburton, 31 January 1897
Salt Lake City President Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother I recieved the call that was sent to me to fullfull a mission in the Southren States and to start on the 15th of April I eccept the call and will be ready to start on that date if I have my health and strength. I feel thankfull that I have been deemed worthy to be called as a messenger of Jesus Christ
Letter from Andrew Kimball, 31 January 1897
St. John Kansas, To the First Presidency Salt Lake City. Dear Brethren: For some time I have felt annoyed because we had no available means in our mission with which to meet current expenses. I have determined and have now made the effort. Commencing Jan'y. 1st 1897 we propose with the help of the Lord to carry our own expenses as far as possible. You will remember we have been operating among the Indians and op- ening up a new field with no source of income. By your kindness we have been allowed to draw such tracts and books, as we needed from the Deseret News Publishing Co. on the account of the Trustee and Trust. Moneys received by the Elders on sale of books have from time to time, by your consent been appropriated to meet our demands. Commencing Oct 15th last year I arranged to have our Elders pay for all tracts and our Sec'y. to remit to Deseret News Co. for all books ordered by our Elders. I paid for copying book and press, mimeograph, and this years supply of stationary out of my own pocket
