First when the Elders administer to the sick some times I have herd them say that they shall recover, then the^y^ die do they have the spirit of their calling when this acurs? When a Brother or sister Dies is the angles or ther good spirits at their bedside waiting for them. Why is it that some are called leaving wife children or husband Sometimes in poor circumstances Is their a work on the other side of the vail for us to do? Do the spirits of eny ever come back to commune with their Family ever? your advice is to seek the Spirit of God. Letter from R. H. McKaig, 12 March 1897

To the First Presidency of The Chruch of J. C. of L. D. S., Salt Lake City, Utah. Gentlemen: There is in this city at the present time a Dr. Vincent who was the chief Surgeon of the Peery Arctio Expedition. Dr. Vincent is now physician in charge of the local Keely Institute and is a graduate of the parent Insitute at Dwight, Ill. [T]he Dr. Is not only a very refined and well educated gentleman but also a most in- teresting and instructive lecturer upon his personal experiences in the Arctic Circle. I propose to take the Dr. through this State upon a tour for the joint purpose of allowing the Public to hear of his experiences, and for the purpose of promoting the good work of the Keely cure. My object in writing you is to ask you for a general letter of recommendation and introduction to the Bishops and subordinate officers of your Church in the different settlements in this State and Idaho. Knowing as I do that you have always been ready and willing to assist in the promotion of anything that will result for the good of mankind generally. It is upon this theory that I take the liberty of asking for this letter as I believe the final result of our under- taking in conjuction with the moral and religious influence that you could bring to bear upon any subjects that we might redeem would be the salvation of many men and their families who are now suffering through the curse of drink. It is proposed to charge the nominal admission of Fifteen cents for adults and Ten cents for children to the lectures for the purpose simply of defraying the actual expenses incident to the giving of the lecture and nor^t^ for the purpose of making and^y^ money. I would dssire where practicable and possible to hold the lecture in the Wrdard meeting houses as I believe the moral influence would be better. I desire to leave Salt Lake City Monday morning March 15th. I beg leave gentlemen to subscribe myself Most respectfully, R H McKaig
