Letter from Charles Ellis, 14 July 1897
President Wilford Woodruff,
My Dear Friend:
It may never again be my pleasure to
meet you and I want to say, that should you pass before my time comes,
while life remains to me my acquaintance with you shall ever be among
the cherished recollections of my life.
I have enclosed herewith a copy of a few verses which I would
like to dedicate ^to^ you, if it were not too much presumption; and if I
could have the opportunity of doing so I would like to read them to the
Pioneers on the occasion of their reception in the Tabernacle next week.
Hoping your life may yet be spared long to those who love you,
