Letter from James Ephraim Steele, 7 May 1898
Iona, Idaho, President Wilford Woodruff and Councelors Salt Lake City Ut. Dear Brethren: Replying to your favor of the 3rd Inst. in regard to forming two new stakes out of the Oneida Stake, and its effecting the Bingham Stake or the Wards you mention, "Blackfoot and Riverside." Will say, the County line dividing Bingham And Bannock Counties running East and West, is Some thing like 13 miles South of Blackfoot, near Ross Fork on the Indian Reseration. When the line tuches Snake River running West, it then follows the Corse of said river South and West to the American Falls, Thence due west to Blain County. Leaving all that Country, West and South West of Blackfoot and on the west side of Snake River in Bingham Co. Blackfoot is located on the East side of Snake River. While Riverside Moreland and Tilden are located on the west side of the river, so that any stake line runing north far enough to imbrace Blackfoot and Riverside, would of necessity have to take in Moreland and Tilden Wards. Thus cutting off four (4) wards from the Bingham Stake.
