May 15 1879 Our company consists
of W WoodruffJerrome Judd, August Wilkin Almono Loeto Young. [BLANK] Husbandwife & child
& ^A. S.^ Gibbons total 8 souls. we drove to
the Black falls & camped for the night 25 M[iles]
we found this Little Colorado River as
dry as a turnpike for many miles it
was difficult for us to get water to drink,
cook, & water Animals what there was
was standing in pockets. There was a
little pool under the Black falls we caught
a Bucket full of small Chub with
a hook which made a Breakfast for
us all in the Morning

16. we left Br Haskell with his family
at the Black falls He was intending to take
possession of the Ground, for a heard
ground, for Moen Copy we then rode to
the Graand falls the river mostly dry to
the Grand falls some water above 12 Miles
& we Nooned. We hear parted with
Brother Wilkin & Young they went to San Fran Cisco Mountain we drove
on the Sun Set Road & camped on the
