February 04, 1846 ~ Wednesday

Fedb 4th Dark And Rainy light Head bree[ze] at
4 oclok the whole Heavens coverd blacknes it
was expected a severe gale was at hand
all sail were spread when the squall struck
the ship all sail was then furled as soon as
possible the passengers went out to assist but the
wind soon changed to the North East And
the sails werse spread before it And we had for
once A fair breeze but it did not last long but
shifted to various points we did not have so
rough a night as was expected
