Woodruff Dear Brother: The arguments before the Supreme Court in the appeal case terminated on friday, and Mr. Broadhead and Franklin S. finished their work on the case on Saturday, and on Saturday evening we paid Mr. Broadhead the last of his fee—$100000 and his expenses—$200.50 and took his receipt in full for all services and expences in the case up to date. McDonalds fee and expenses amount to $2175.40 which are now due, and, as we have not the money to pay him, I will telegraph you this evening to forward as soon as possible, $5,00000 to meet this demand, and to have on hand for future expenses, as they may occur.
