March 03, 1889 ~ Sunday

3 Sunday I took cars with G Q Cannon Reynolds &
Winters & rode to Provo to Attend Conference we met in
to the Big Tabernacle with about 3,500 people Prayer By
George Reynolds W. Woodruff spoke 40 Minuts ^J^ Gates
18 M[inutes]. Afternoon G Q Cannon spoke 1 Hour & 20 Minuts
A. O. Smoot spoke 25 Minuts The Spirit of the Lord was
with all the speakers At the close of the Meeting I met
with the Officers of the Young Mens Mutual & spoke to them
15 Minuts & Br Cannon 10 Minuts. I signed 12 Recommends
I met with the Priesthood Meeting in the Evening Prayer

25 Minuts The Power of God was with us we stoped with
A O Smoot I wrote one Letter to G Teasdale

Mr. Wilford Woodruff. Dear sir The landlord of the hotel, in which, I was clerking, sold out to another man, and the other man gave my position to one of his sons. I was then offered a place in a restaurant but at such a small salary, that I concluded I would go to Cincinnati and see if I could not do better, but as I was not successfull in obtaining employment, I came barck here and accepted the place in the restaurant. President Woodruff—Then addressed the congregation. Said he felt thankful to his Heavenly Father that he had lived long enough to speake to so many people in Provo. The Saints must not expect too much of an old man, as he with all the Servants of God, was dependent upon Him for all he done. He had lived in the history of this Church some fifty six years, and it was a marvel to him that he still lived considering all that the Church had passed through, but this is Gods work, and He will uphold it, and His servants who will obey Him. Bore his testimony that God had restored the Holy Priesthood in this dis- pensation, and that He will accom- plish His work according to the words of His inspired servants. Showed that the work and people of God had always been opposed by the inhabitants of the earth: showing also the awful consequences upon the nations who have, and who will shed the blood of the Lords anointed.
