Letter to Orson Smith and Counselors, 3 September 1890
Salt Lake City, U. T. September 3, 1890 President Orson Smith and Counselors, Cache Stake of Zion. Dear Brethren: Accompanying this you will find a communication that is of the greatest importance just at the present time. It is exceedingly necessary that close attention be paid to the recommendations and instructions which it contains; and we desire the utmost diligence used in carrying out all the sug- gestions that are made in this communication, that there may be no room for us to reproach ourselves hereafter for neglect at this important juncture. We sincerely trust that you will give it a careful consideration, and that you will do all in your power to see that the results asked for are obtained. With kindest regards, we are Your Brethren, Wilford Woodruff, Geo. Q. Cannon, Jos. F. Smith, per Geo. Q. Cannon
Letter from George Teasdale, 3 September 1890
My beloved brother: I thank you very kindly for the hansome copy of The [illegible] of [illegible] you [bot] me and appreciate the compliments Last Sunday I atten ded a very good Conference of the Saints in the Sheffield Conference. We had an interesting time. Apostle Teasdale and other Utah Elders were billed in large posters to attend, and it some- what stirred up the "Anti-mormon" element, and a row seemed likely. It was the first time we had met since the excitement caused by Jarmons lectures, without the police protection at our con- ference. We had quite a turn out in the evening and it seemed likely for a disturbance but the blessing of God was with us. I occupied the evening and had the best of attention and preached the gospel in the power of the Spirit, and no one asked a question. I seemed to have the Bible at my finger ends and spoke 70 min- utes by the power of the Spirit. Elder Jos. J. Golightly is doing well and the Elders with him, but they are expecting to go home in the fall. My health has been improving and I enjoy my labors better now than I have ever done I have been so blessed of the Lord, I should have rejoiced exceed- ingly at my released if I could have gone home
