with a happy interview with Elder David Patten
also Sister Patten his wife Br [Patten] Preached I followed
him rode after meeting {in company with Elders Patten Smoot and Sister Patten and Taylor} 16 m[iles]

when we had the privilege of meeting with Elder David W. Patten, who had come direct from Kirtland, and who had been ordained one of the Twelve Apostles. It was a happy meeting. He gave us an account of the endowments at Kirtland, the glorious blessings received, the ministration of angels, the organization of the Twelve Apostles and Seventies, and informed me that I was appointed a member of the second quorum of Seventies. All of this was glorious news to me, and caused my heart to rejoice.

On the Elder David Patten returned to Tennessee to again join me in my labours he Sister Patten came with him I met with him on the 21st day of April 1836 in Henry County Tennessee Tennessee it was truly a happy meeting. He related to me the blessings which he had received in Kirtland during ther endowment which was great & glorious & caused my heart to rejoice We travelled & laboured together & preached daily, & continued to baptize such as would receive our testimony persecution began to rage against us in the South Elder Patten bore a very plain & pointed testimony unto the people of the work of God
